Hi all, I had been looking for the original Strider Manga for several years and I finally got a copy. Since I was working with two sources, I'm actually getting a second copy soon, so I have plans to rescan and translate the book.

I've started on some preliminary work and I'll be doing this in my spare time, so don't expect the entire thing to be done in a week.

I'm learning Japanese and the translation is so I can improve my skills. Hopefully, I will be able to find someone who can review my translations and check the accuracy.

According to the tracking information, I should have the second copy of the book tomorrow, then I can get started scanning.
I'll start posting scan samples once the project is underway.

The book has arrived and the scanning has begun. As soon as I cracked the spine, the binding glue gave out and the pages started coming loose, but this was just what I expected from a book this old. On the bright side, the scans are going to be super-nice with no shadowing or distortion due to the binding.

Very nice! That quality is amazing!

The final version should look better. I'm scanning the pages at a very high dpi so it's slow going (I have about 45 pages scanned so far). If everything goes to plan, I hope to make this project look very professional. I will be replacing the sound effects but I don't plan to do page-flipping largely due to issues with various symbols and logos in the artwork that wouldn't survive the transition.
The first page in the book is a color page with a cassette tape cover and an ID card that could be cut out (like anyone would do that). I'm not sure yet how I will manage the final version of that page.

A preview version is attached. As you can see, when the manga was released they hadn't actually decided on the final color scheme for Hiryu's outfit. Thank god they didn't go with the pink version. The dust jacket for the book actually had orange and green versions of the outfit as well. Everything but the blue/purple color they ended up actually using.

I have already translated quite a few passages from the manga myself before, if you want any help or something, feel free to PM me (though I personally don't think I'm much better than you in terms of knowledge, but still...)

That ID card...could that be the elusive "Cypher License Permit" (サイファー使用許可証)?? I've been trying to find out what that thing was for a good while.

Why yes, yes it is. It's on the back of that image with Hiryu in the black outfit. It's got a spot where you can fill out your "codename", various other details, and stick a photo. I plan to translate it along with the rest of the book.

I now have 85 pages of the book scanned, which is just over 1/3 of the entire thing. I may end up hitting a bit of a slowdown in the next couple of days, though.

This is the place where I "work" (kinda, the manga I was translating stopped, so we didn't put it up) and if you don't mind I would do a Hungarian translation of the manga using your english one. I also have a friend who can check if your translation is correct, but she doesn't have an internet, so she could use my computer to read it.
